Tour Plan

Upon landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you'll be greeted by a representative from Mropean Safaris and transferred to your comfortable hotel. The hotel offers cozy rooms, hot showers, a swimming pool, and Wi-Fi. In the evening, a briefing with our team will ensure you’re fully prepared for the climb ahead. For private tours, shared airport transfers are included for the group. Additional individual transfers may incur extra charges, so coordinating arrival and departure times is advisable. Note: Check-in begins at 2:00 PM.

In the morning, after a quick briefing at your hotel, you'll embark on a 3-4 hour drive to the Londorossi Gate, the western entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park. Once registration and permits are sorted, you'll continue to the drop-off point at 3,600 meters (11,482 feet) in off-road vehicles. From here, a moderate trek leads you to Shira 1 Camp, where you’ll start your acclimatization. At this altitude, remember to stay hydrated, consider high-altitude medication, and monitor for any signs of altitude sickness. Trekking Time: 1-2 hours Distance: 5 km

Today’s trek to Shira 2 Camp is a light walk across the Shira Plateau, offering breathtaking views of the African savannah and Kilimanjaro’s unique flora. Weather permitting, you’ll also get a glimpse of Mount Meru. An optional trek to Cathedral Peak is available, offering an incredible view of the valley below. Upon reaching Shira 2 Camp, you'll have lunch followed by an acclimatization hike towards Lava Tower Camp, gaining 200 meters (656 feet) in altitude. Trekking Time: 3-4 hours Distance: 7 km Acclimatization Hike: 1-2 hours, 2 km

After breakfast, you'll trek to the Lava Tower, located at 4,600 meters (15,091 feet). This day involves several ascents and descents, making it crucial for acclimatization. After lunch at the Lava Tower, you'll descend to Barranco Camp, where you'll encounter the imposing Barranco Wall. While the Barranco Wall may look intimidating, the trail is manageable and well within the capability of all climbers. Trekking Time: 6-8 hours Distance: 12 km

You'll start early to avoid the crowds at Barranco Wall. The climb, though steep, takes about an hour and offers spectacular views. After the climb, the trek continues to Karanga Camp through a series of ascents and descents. After a warm lunch at camp, you'll take an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp, gaining 200 meters (656 feet) in altitude. Trekking Time: 4-5 hours Distance: 5 km Acclimatization Hike: 1-2 hours, 2.5 km

After a hearty breakfast, you'll trek to Barafu Summit Camp, your starting point for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. Your tents and gear will be set up in advance, allowing you to rest and prepare for the night’s summit attempt. Trekking Time: 4-5 hours Distance: 6 km

Your summit push begins at midnight. Despite the high altitude and challenging conditions, the trek is straightforward. Climbers will be paired with guides for close monitoring. After reaching the summit of Uhuru Peak, you'll descend back to Barafu Camp for a brief rest before continuing to Millennium Camp. Remember, most accidents occur during the descent, so be cautious and watch your footing. Trekking Time: 8-12 hours Distance: 15 km

Your final descent takes you through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. After the trek, you'll celebrate with your group and receive your summit certificates. A transfer will then take you back to your hotel. Trekking Time: 4-5 hours Distance: 12 km

Relax at the hotel before your transfer to the airport. Note: Hotel check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-out options are available for an additional fee if you have an evening flight.
